Easter came out of NO WHERE for me this year. Maybe because it was at such a strange part of the month?? Anyways... I was one of those suckers at walmart the Saturday before because I was slightly oblivious this year. Every year the same song comes to mind when I think of Easter. You know...
Here comes Peter Cottontail hopping down the bunny trail... hippity hoppity Easter's on it's way...
ALWAYS!
Anyways here's some pics while I'm still trying to figure out WHERE I heard that song.

dying Easter eggs
hunting for eggs

Did I mention Paige had her first OFFICIAL haircut?! Your looking at the proud new owner of a macbook pro! This thing is crazy wicked fast!! I almost feel like I don't deserve to own it because I have yet to use it to it's fullest capabilities! Surely photobooth, facebook, and blog doesn't count! BUT not to fear, this baby will put it's time in while I'm trucking along on my book and starting school in the fall! ...Speaking of school. I had to take a compass test recently and I was pleasantly surprised I didn't bomb the math, got a 93 on reading and a 99 on writing (dangit...one off).
Oh yes and if you look closely in the background of my pics that would be pictures of my sweet girl in one of the SUPER CUTE wall hangings at Cut It Out. haha and yes! this is what I do on company time!!

mhm thats my best crosseyed...sad huh

even when I'm at work she's here!
I promise I now have photobooth out of my system and will no longer post ridiculous pictures...for today :)

Life's what happens while your making other plans!

I've really been slacking in the blog department. So here's an update of what Miss Paige and I have been keeping busy with!

My little brother Brad and I were lucky enough to go watch my favorite team, the Boston Celtics play the Utah Jazz. It was crazy fun and I was sooo stoked to even be in the same room as many of my favorite players, and to have great seats! Brad was cheering for the Jazz... but we're workin

on that ;) He wasn't even thrilled to be watching the all time 3 point shooter in the NBA, Ray Allen, play... oh well.

Valentines wasn't we expected either! Poor Paige came down with PNEUMONIA! About three days before we discovered this we knew she was sick with a slight fever and flu symptoms. I made a call to the nurse at the Pediatric Center... really starting not to like it there. Anyways the nurse told me that with her temperature, being as mild as it was, it wasn't necessary to bring Paige in until the fever lasted for about 3 days. Well 3 days came, her fever hadn't gone away and she just looked ad felt terrible despite being full of Tylenol. I unfortunately had to work but I was grateful that my mom could take her in to see a doctor. He discovered an ear infection and suspected pneumonia since she had signs of influenza. When I heard this I was sincerely upset... I should have trusted my instincts as a mom and punted the nurse.... okay not nice :) Anyways by the end of the day Paige had been sent to the radiology center for a chest x ray and they confirmed pneumonia. They prescribed her a steroid, antibiotic, and breathing treatments. It was quiet the regiment keeping track of all of her meds and when they were taken. Luckily my little buttercup is a trooper and was well in about two weeks.

This is Paige doing a breathing treatment. The mouth piece looked like a chicken and we would tell her she needed to let the chicken breathe on her.

Paige has become quiet the independent two year old. We've watched Despicable Me and How To Train Your Dragon so many times that I'm about to have them come up 'missing'. Anyone want some movies?? jk jk. Along with her persistence in movies she's insisted on picking out her own outfits... refuses to have a hair cut... and refuses big girl underwear (soon to be over ruled). Here's a picture of an original Paige outfit... green bow... red top with black pants and brown boots that are one size to small but insists!

I also was lucky enough to go to a Lady Gaga concert! My good friend Kayla won tickets off the radio and sweet enough to take me! I had such a blast and have always liked Lady Gaga but after her concert I love and respect her...even though she's nuts! I love the she is very concentrated on giving back and loves to lift up others! Repeatedly throughout her concert she would say things like "build your own stage!" "be who you are!" and I left feeling very uplifted! (despite still being confused by her crazy antics) This is Kayla and I before the concert in our sweet Gaga glasses. Funny this is that my glasses were IDENTICAL to the ones they were selling at the concert ha mine were only five bucks. Thanks for taking me Kayla!

Last but not least... (thats for you Jaymie)
Wow I guess it's been a while since I've blogged on either blog... my bad. The holidays were delightful for Paige and I. Poor Paige seemed to be sick through most of it though. On and off starting around the time of Thanksgiving and all the way through Christmas. bummer huh? In fact, the weekend before Christmas she had a fever of 104!! but only a terrible respiratory infection. No bueno. Paige wasn't necessarily excited for Santa this year, she was more in love with the Christmas spirit. Every house we would pass with Christmas lights she would point out... car rides were exciting haha. Paige especially loved the house in Iona that lights up with music. She was very disappointed when we took down our Christmas decorations (last weekend) yes, I proudly procrastinated that. She was a very spoiled little girl between me and her daddy and grandparents, it'll be interesting to see what happens if she ever has siblings haha... yikes.
The funny thing was she was only interested in opening a few gifts and wouldn't open any more so I ended up unwrapping a few of her gifts. I actually was pretty happy about that, that tells me she is a content and happy little girl with what she has. Makes any mom feel good :) Brock and I split Christmas day and I was the lucky one to have her Christmas morning. I feel very blessed that I was able to make Christmas special for her and I am also grateful that Brock felt the same way. MAN she's one loved little girl :)

Well New Years was nothing too great. I honestly feel New Years Eve is a little cursed for me so I was pretty happy it was a mild night. I did make a few resolutions, mostly centered around being physically fit and making accomplishments, such as finishing my book! (jeez about time, I know right?)

Well that's about it for us. I'm also updating my curmudgeon. I hope the holidays treated everyone else well!

Bucket List

So I decided it's high time I got serious about my goals and wants in life and have started a bucket list! My past is redeemed, my present makes sense, and my future is secure. I'm finished and done with low-living, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tainted visions, worldy talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals... I don't have to be right, first recognized, praised, regarded, or rewarded. I now live by faith, lean on His presence, walk with patience, am lifted by prayer and labor with power. My face is set, my gait is fast, my goal is heaven. My road is narrow, my way is rough, my companions are few, my guide is reliable, my mission is clear. I cannot be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, devided or delayed. I will not flinch at the face of sacrafice, hesitate in the presence of the adversary, negotiate at the table of the enemy, ponder at the pool of popularity, or meander in the maze of mediocrity. I won't give up, shut up, or let up, until I have stayed up, stored up, and paid up for the cause of Christ. I must go til He comes, give til I drop, preach til all know, and work til He stops me. And we He turns for His own, He will have no problem recognizing me. My banner will be clear." Henry B. When did that happen?! Last I checked it was April I swear! Ha so this will be a small update but I want to focus on something very different. Update first!
In April, Paige and I boarded a 'big bird' ...and airplane (that was rather small) to go to Viva Las Vegas to see my best friend and cousin Alex and her cute little family. (thanks Ryan for letting me visit). FIRST I have a few things to say about Alligiant airlines.... we arrived 45 minutes before our plane was due to load (it's the Idaho Falls airport, huge? I think not!) We get to check in and the dumb people, dumb isnt the word I would like to use but it'll do, already loaded baggage onto the plane... meanwhile there is like 4 people behind me who have baggage as well and the 'dumb' people refuse to take it!!! So what do I do? I shove everthing that Paige and I will need for the night into my thankfully enormous purse and use her car seat as my carry on. My mother fedexed the suitcase to us later. Ha nothing was stopping me from getting on that plane! Vegas was fun and a much needed vacation! Paige did AMAZING on the airplane, but then again when isn't she amazing ;) here are some just a few pics from the tripo!

I think this place was called "BJ's" and had really good food, I specifially remember this was a windy day, yes worse than Idaho.

Paige and Kinsley... so cute, I know you don't gotta tell me :]

Moving on in our update... I'm a new auntie!

Berkley Kaylee Dye... the most hair I have seen on any newborn baby. So cute, I was tempted to sneak out with her! She doesn't know it yet but I'm her favorite auntie :) Congrats Jeremiah and Brandi!

Now what I wanted to focus on... drum roll, just kidding, but please feel free to. So much has happened in the past 6 months and when I look back on it all I see and feel that I have changed so much and am so incredibly stronger than before. I pretty much kicked and screamed (well moped and muttered) through this past trial and now I couldn't be more grateful for it. I'm that much more self-reliant, my faith is that much stronger, my patience is that much more lasting, and I'm that much happier from enjoying the little things. I would like to say that I did it all my own and I'm just 'like so awesome" all valley girl like, but the truth is I was carried through it. By God, by my friends, by church leaders and my counselor, but most and above all my family. Thank you so much for pushing me through something I didn't want to take a single further step into. Thank you for providing those little beams of light in my depressing darkness, and thanks for pulling my visa from that little Island that I like to name "Selfish Isle" because there was only enough room for me on it, remind me not to vacation there again ;) kidding! I can't believe how happy I am right now, it's unbelievable and if someone 6 months ago would have told me that I would be this happy this soon I would have laughed... or glared, not quiet sure. So thank you Paige for putting up with a mommy who wasn't at her best. Thank you mom for kicking my butt everytime I felt down and snapping me out of it! Thank you Dad for helping to get my mind off things. Thank you Grandma for just plain kindness. Thank you Aunt Lynette and Uncle Kevin for your words of wisdom that I respect so much! Thank you Alex listening to me vent over and over again, oh and for letting me come visit! I think of you when I eat a pork salad, weird? lol! Thanks everyone, I love you and sorry for being so sappy!
I have such a testimoney that prayers are answered all in God's time and am so grateful that you were there for me while that time was waiting to pass. Muah!
Randi

Paitence... ugh

Ok so I'm sure most you are aware of my recent marital situation, if not then uh ya, I don't want to address ha. So instead of addressing what I've been going through lately I have choosen to just blog/journal the things I have been picking up along the way. That includes my last blog.
This insight came from my counselor again. It was awesome and completely inspired because the night before I was thinking and didn't really have anything in mind that I wanted to discuss the next day. So in my nightly prayers I just sort of asked in passing that my counselor would know what would be helpful to me and that was that, nothing big, just added it in.
The next morning while going over the general beginning session stuff he informed that his computer screen on his lap top had been on the fritz and that it was making him nuts, but he wanted me to watch something that struck him and made him think of me in Priesthood meeting the weekend before. So it took him like five minutes to finally find the talk from President Uchtdorf and then finally to get it to work but as soon as the talk started his computer didn't blink once...NOT ONE TIME PEOPLE! Ironic... I think not. Furthermore when he told me about the talk I thought "Oh great, not really what I need. I'm getting divorced, it's a little late for patience... the waiting part is over..." Needless to say I wasn't very receptive to it.
So the talk begins and starts out alright, then gets better, and better, and then BAM it's like he was talking to me and just me, despite that this talk was given in Priesthood Session!
Like I said his talk about patience, this first thing that struck me was "...patience is more than waiting for something to happen.... patience requires actively working toward worthwhile goals and not getting discouraged when results don't appear instantly or without effort."
I thought well gosh, I have been putting a lot of effort into this marriage and a lot of effort into trying to remind myself to be patient and endure.
Then he said "...patience is not passive resignation, nor is it failing to act beacause of our fears. Patience means active waiting and enduring." I thought "well duh" then President Uchtdorf went on to say "It means staying with something and doing all that we can- working, hoping, and excersing faith; bearing hardship with fortitude even when the desires of our hearts are delayed." Ok here's the kicker, "Patience is not simpy enduring, it is enduring well." He said that everyone is called to wait in their own way, we wait for things at the time seem so good or so right that we can't possibly imagine him delaying the answer. (or things so awful and hard). It's hard to accept but things are answered on His time.
That is soo soo frustrating to me sometimes. I'm like... "hello, i'm going through this now... not ten years from now. A little help now, not then."
But like walking and talking anything else knowledge and understanding comes at the price of patience. "Patience is a godly attribute that can heal souls, unlock treasures of understanding, and can transform men and women into saints and angels. Patience means staying with something until the end. It means DELAYING IMMEDIATE GRATIFICATION FOR FUTURE BLESSINGS..." here is the part that got me. "Patience means accepting that which cannot be changed and facing it with courage, grace, and faith."
Last of all a high point in his talk for me was when he said, "Patience is a process of perfection. The Savior himself said that in your patience your possess your souls... or in your patience you win mastery of your souls. Patience means to abide in faith, knowing sometimes it is in the waiting that we grow the most..."
He eventually concludes my saying that patience boils down to keeping the commandments, trusting the Lord, and being meek.
What I took the most out of this is patience isn't passive, you can't just say "wake me when this is over." We should actively be enduring by learning from the experience, even if it completely sucks!!! Otherwise the whole trial is a waste and when the next trial comes it will be just as hard to endure. The way I see it (and I didn't used to see it this way) is "Randi, your going through this whether you like it or not, whether your choose to or not, so gosh dangit make the best of it!"
So I really picked apart this talk so I encourage all you to read it and derive your own conclusions. It's called 'Continue in Patience' by President Uchtdorf during the Spring 2010 priesthood session. I didn't have a lot of time to blog so I hope my insight was declared in clear manner, if not... ha uh sorry???
It says that he used "Don't! The secret of self-control" by Jonah Lehrer as one of his references so I plan on finding this book and will share my insights!
I want to thank all of my friends and family for their amazing comfort and support, it's been my greatest comfort and blessing!

Redefining Joy

Ok so this isn't planned to be a very super, jazzed up blog with loads of pics, but none the less, for some reason, I feel it's important. I have this strange sense that I need to share my new little secret that gives me even an ounce of sanity. I know I needed this, maybe you do to.
About a month ago I read "Redefining Joy In The Last Days" by Chris Stewart. First off I would like to say, go get it. It's only sixty pages long and has some good food for thought. I really liked that he uses personal experiences and that it is really plainly written, it gave me the sense that he's just an average joe too. Anyways like I said, good book, but not until this week did I really peice things together.
My counselor and I were talking (yes I see a counselor, he's super if anyone wants to see him) and he asked me if I had ever been on the top of a mountain and just looked at a wave of endless tree's, almost like they ran altogether, I answered 'ya'. Then he pointed out that in my current situation I was only focusing on one tree, out of the whole entire forest, I was focusing on one. That that tree was hindering me from looking at the other tree's that contributed to the sitution, and not only that but the many of the other tree's were 'good' tree's and didn't contribute to my conflicts at all. Ok so pause, and take that in. What could our other tree's be? Family, a home, friends, the gospel, health, so on and so forth. aka count your many blessings.
Back to the discussion, then he asked me why did I think that Genesis was the first book in the Bible. Out of all the books, besides the reason for the creation. He pointed out it was the core of the gospel. Adam and Eve. That relationships with eachother and with our Father in heaven were the most important thing here on earth. He continued to point out that out of all the oodles of tree's in the garden that Adam and Eve COULD partake of, Satan singled out the ONE tree they couldn't partake of.
How often do we focus on the things that we don't have? Think about it, we focus on that one movie that is being released that looks so good but doesn't meet our standards when there are ten coming out that DO meet our standards that we could easily go see.
Satan has a way of making us focus on the tree's we can't have or can't change when we're surrounded by so many we can partake of and that help us be happy. This got me thinking about the plan of happiness and reminded me of the things that I read in the book.
"Men are that they might have joy." WE EXSIST TO HAVE JOY. God doesn't send us here to be miserable, he gives us challenges so that THROUGH them we 'might have joy'
Richard G Scott taught something that helps me understand this, this was mentioned in the book as well. "The challenges you face, the growth experiences you encounter, are intended to be temporary scenes played out on the stage of life of continuing peace and happiness. Sadness, heartache, and disappointments are events in life. It is not intended that they be the substance of life... stepping stones to further growth and attainment." ("The Atonement Can Secure Your Peace and Happiness," Ensign November 2006, 41).
LIGHT BULB ANYONE?! It was for me. I realized that what doesn't kill me, makes me stronger. That Satan knows my weaknesses and forces me to look at the tree's I can't partake of. I should count my blessings for what they are and know that all my heartache is short lived and is a stepping stone to greater happiness.
I hope this helps you as much as it has helped me. Leave me a comment and tell what your thoughts are :)

A very random, very over due update!

Wow have I been slacking! Where to even begin?
Christmas?

Ok so this Christmas was our first Christmas at our own place (last Christmas was spent at the Pond's cabin) So we tried a few traditions of our own starting with the tree. I'm sorry to say I never took a picture of it! But it was gorgeous and stayed in our living room much longer than it was supposed to ha... uh I won't say when. Also I took a tradition from

my family and made it our own and that is making corn flake christmas wreaths.

Which are pretty much glorified rice crispy treats. It's just corn flakes, marshmallows, butter, green food coloring and red hots. Brock didn't care for them too much so... I ended up being the one to eat them all, ha not complaining!

For Christmas Brock got a ps3 and I got a super cute orange camcorder! yay! I tape recorded everything Christmas day and that is why there is a lack of pictures. But I did take a picture of Paige's most favorite item she got... of the many many things she got.

A mini 'mickey mouse clubhouse' kitchen set. Next year we plan to upgrade her to the full out kitchen set. This year we werent' really sure how she would like it but she loves it. She also got books, a fisher price dollhouse (ya know w/ the fatty lil people), clothes, a stroller for her baby doll, bath toys... and probably some other things I can't remember.

Anyways Christmas day was crazy. My dad came over and watched Paige open up all her gifts and then we went to my parents for Christmas breakfast and to Brock's parents for Christmas dinner, we also went and saw Avatar for the second time.

The end of January one of my bestie's, Carissa Jones, left for her mission to the Phillipines. I've already written her if that tells you how much I miss her! I know that she will be a fabulous missionary and am so excited here about some of her adventures!

Ok so now we're fastforwarding to present day...

Today I finished putting together the valentines that I have been working on and Paige assisted me... she sat next to me at the table coloring in her color book and just jabbering away. I thoroughly enjoy hearing whats on her mind, even though it's not in english. GOSH I JUST LOVE HER SO MUCH she learns so much everyday, it's crazy. Oh ya, and she learned how to say 'crazy' it's pretty cute, as well as 'bless you' and has mastered 'no'.

It's sort of hard to tell but the valentines are flower pots and the card part slips inside where I included Paige's 18 month old Valentines pictures. I can't believe how much has happened in just one month! Starting at the beginning, Conference weekend. It's tradition for my family to go haul up all of their enormous fifth wheels and camp in Island Park for October conference. We sit around the fire, eat lots of good food, and listen to conference. It's great! Then on saturday on the men go to preisthood and the women usually make dutch oven dinner and craft!

This is the men before Priesthood and Paige just hangin in the fifth wheel.

NEXT was my little brother's birthday, he's a teenager now, scary! I know he's getting older because he asked for some hollister cologne instead of some sort of video game or transformer. Poor kid had school on his birthday so we all went to red robin that night to celebrate. This is him diving into his birthday treat. They made him stand on the bench while they sang (really loud) to him.

THEN Lately Brock had been spending hours, no joke, on craigslist and ksl looking at dogs claming that Gizmo "really needs a companion" and I was like "no no no no, HECK NO!"

Obviously I lost. This is Paige holding our new dog Molly, she is a cocker spaniel and pretty dang cute. We found her on ksl one saturday and Brock was sooo afraid she was go ing to be gone soon that I drove (by myself) all the way to Farmington Utah and back just pick up the runt. I was soo grateful to the owners who actually lived in Orem and meet me part of the way. Keep in mind, I DIDN'T WANT ANOTHER DANG DOG! Call me a good wife :) I convinced Brock that because I did this then I got to have a small Halloween party at our place. Which was fun! I made lots of good food, like chili and cornbread, caramel corn and caramel apples, halloween cupcakes and warm apple cider. It was yummy! We also had a best couples costume contest. Unfortunately a few couples left the party before I busted out the camera. Hopefully my dear friend Carissa will send me her pics and I will post them later ;)

Britney and Dexter, vampires (cehck out the teeth) Jarem and Ashton, cowboys, and Jessie their cute dog!Brock and Me, a witch and a vampire. We're missing pics of Brad and Brinah Lords and his HILARIOUS costume and our good friends Courtney and Josh Jones who looked AMAZING! Here are some pics of Paigey on Halloween, she was unfortunately sick that night.

The cutest kitty cat ever!! hope everyone had a Happy Halloween!

Fact that sounds like Fiction

Expect the unexpected. Friday I was getting my hair done and my hair dresser, who is amazing, goes "Did you hear about what happened at (she named a certain grocery store) about a month ago?" Of course I hadn't, I never watch the news or read the paper. She proceeds to tell me that her dad works for the City of Idaho Falls and that the sister in law of a girl she works with works at the certain grocery store. ANYWAYS apparently there was a women shopping and she was with a sister or something and she picked up some fruit and felt a scratch on her finger, she was bleeding a little bit and just figured she had cut in on another peice of fruit, didn't think anything else of it UNTIL she gets out into the parking lot and DIES! What cut her finger your wondering? A cobra! Yes, the snake. It was hiding in the fruit and was obviously shipped all the way from South America or where ever. My hair dresser continued to tell me that it hadn't been in the news or papers because a) the store wants to keep it under wraps even though it's not really their fault and b) because the women who died was an illegal citizen. Apparently a bargain was struck that her family, which some were illegal's too, would be compinsated if they didn't say anything. I was told that if you looked at the newspaper fairly close during that time period you might find a few suspicious things hinting the event but nothing solid. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THIS WORLD!? People have a right to know about this crud!
I know what your thinking... YA RIGHT there is no way people wouldn't know about it. I thought the same thing until I just heard my hair dresser and the girl who works with her just go back and forth with some pretty legit details and they honestly seemed astonished as well. So believe or not but don't come crying to me when you pick up some fruit and die!
I can't help but laugh a little because that is some serious bad luck for who died and maybe karma as well. I do know which grocery store but there is some small chance this is fiction and I don't want to slander but I promise it's not Wal Mart. Which leaves three other grocery stores in Idaho falls.
Happy Shopping!

Happy Birthday Mom!

My dearest mother's birthday was this past saturday, August 29, and she turned a whopping 25 years old! Jk but that's the story we stuck to, she acutally turned 45. Anyways my step dad and I planned a lil surprise barbeque for her but she ended up being pretty sick throughout most of the day and didn't end up going to work or leaving the house at all. Although there was no one shouting surprise her friends and family still came over and we all had a really great time.

You can't really see the cake very well but, it had some cute wirey sqwiggles coming out of it.

I just want to say how much I love my mother. She is ultimately my best friend, my shopping buddy, and the best mother ever. I admire her and am so grateful for everything she has gone through and accomplished. I now realize being a single mother would be no easy task and on top of that she had to provide for us and all the while she had the heartache of a divorce. I now know just how strong she was not to break down and cry in front of me. Being six years old I never saw a change in her. She was a constant super mom and I love her so much for that. I admire her for moving forward in life and for finding a new love, having another kid, marrying in the temple, and for making her life into what she deserved. I'm so grateful that she was able to put up with my teen years. I'm grateful that she encouraged me to try all sorts of new things like dance, gymnastics, soccer, cheer, ballroom, writing, and hair school. Truth be told I would not have survived my pregnancy with my sanity if it weren't for her. She listened to me sob for hours on end while I wondered what was the right next step. She came to birthing classes with me when I had no one else, she walked miles next to me while I tried to enduce labor myself, and she held my hand when I had Paige. She taught me how to care for Paige and still answers my oodles of questions. She is an amazing grandmother. My mother has always put others needs before hers. I could go on and on and on and on and on or I could just say... I love you mom!

I promised to post more pics so here is a pic of Brock reading to Paige. We read her at least five books a day (no kidding) and she still always thrilled to be read to more!

the sigh of all sigh's...

Are the terrible two's allowed to come BEFORE two?! If so then 'they' (the people who pegged the two's as terrible) really need to be more broad. Don't get me wrong Paige is (or has been) an unusually content little girl. Rarely crying or whining, good at entertaining herself, loving, and just over all so enjoyable to be around. Infact so enjoyable that I used to hate leaving her even to go to a movie. I would actually MISS her ten minutes after dropping her off at a sitter's. It seems that ever since her first birthday everything has just done a huge 180, it's probably normal, but we're new at this remember. All of her teeth have decided to come in at once, she's now walking, she decided she's suddenly scared of our harmless dog and the vacuumm, she can now throw fits when we take things away from her she shouldn't have, throwing things like food and blocks, and now she has mastered climbing. Walking has meant about 20 falls into something hurtful a day, which means we soothe her 20 times a day. Climbing has been easier to prevent I just line her 'mountains' in piles of pillows and that usually does the trick. The dog and the vac on the other hand have not been so easy. Each time I vacuumm (however you spell it!) I have to get down next to it and pet it and smile so she knows it's a 'friendly' thing. The same goes for the dog and it works until he goes whizzing by her and tips her over or runs away when she tries to 'hug' him.
As much as it sounds like I'm complaining I have actually come to enjoy watching her grow and mature. Her personality is really coming out and she's still always enjoyable to be around (minus the teething days) We're so blessed to have a thriving little girl who is growing up so fast. So maybe i'm not complaining about our new challenges but about her growing up so dang fast!
On the other hand some of the new cute things she can do is pat us on the back when she hugs us, gives us loads of kisses, mimicks us shaking our heads yes and no, snapping on both hands now, dancing (especially to the 'lollipop' commercial, saying uh oh, and her fascination with belly buttons and noses. sorry no pics but soon to come!

outta shape

So big news... my little girl can walk!!!

The other day after eating two eggo's, some oreo's, four peices of a Tony's pizza aka cardboard pizza, and having a peice of goo cake i decided... I'M FREAKING FAT! I don't mean like obese fat but like that's all there is to me is fat and no muscle. make sense? So yesterday a friend and I loaded up our babe's (and gizmo) and walked around down town for about two hours and it felt good to have the fresh air so later that night I meet up with my other friend Ashton and we walked uphill for about two miles and that felt even better! So here's my new resolution, not necessarily to loose weight but to get toned! I plan to do the uphill walk everyday so wish me luck in seeing results soon... and having the will power to keep going.

Ha, oh i forgot to mention this is all so that I can keep up with walking daughter cuz oh boy is she fast!

OoDLeS OF SuMMeR fuN!

This is a modge-podge of things we have been doing this summer to stay out of trouble. Jk, what trouble could we even possibly get into? lol on the other hand any suggestions? So Brock tried his hand...er feet... at wakeboarding for the first time. He did really well and stood up a few times but the lake was so choppy and not to mention FREEZING that he didn't stay in long. I knew he would be good because he so dang good at snowboarding.

Paige has also been busy with play dates, this particular play date is with Presley who just a few months younger than Paige and is so dang cute as well as chubby. Presley's mom is Brock's cousin Kaycee who was genius enough to think of a play date in the first place. I seriously wish Paige would pack on the pounds the same way Presley does and finally get out of the single digit percentiles. We look forward to more play dates! (and you can tell I've kept busy this summer by taking pictures!)

Paige Paige, Kaycee, and Presley.

We have also spent a lot of time in the pool.

We're so glad Paige got this floaty for her birthday because before when we would take her in the pool she would push us away and squirm wanting us to let her go and swim. For the past few days now I have been nothing short of begging Brock to go on a tinsy-winsy trip. My platform was this, his semester had just ended (can I get a woot woot?), summer was coming to a close, and he starts his new job this coming Wednesday. But for some odd reason he just DID NOT want to leave town or the house for that matter. So after attending Chris Sayer's homecoming on Sunday he asked, "So why didn't we ever go to the cabin this weekend?" I just rolled my eyes and was like "What the heck..." So at the spur of the moment we go home, pack, find a sitter for Paige and bounced all in about two hours. Go us :) His family has a cabin up by Hebgen Lake, for those you who don't where that is it's Montana bordering West Yellowstone, so that's where we 'bounced'. Now I know why they it 'big sky'. Every time I have been to the cabin it has been overcast but last night it was so clear outside and we could see forever. The only problem was that there is about a gazillion billion bugs out this summer due to all the moisture so needless to stay we didn't stay out long. Instead we hunkered down and watched a few movies, we know we're lame but it was actually very fun. The next morning we went into west and had breakfast...

This is my 'pancake sandwich' made of a pancake, bacon, another pancake and egges on top. Yup, and you guessed it delicious with maple syrup allllll over it :)Brock was bein picky and just had hashbrowns and bacon, which were still yummy. I know this because I stole a few bites :)

After breakfast we roamed West for a bit, bought some yummy huckleberry salt water taffy and a cute hoodie for Paige and due to the stormy weather abandoned town early, packed up, and drove home. (admittedly we missed Paige too, even though it was just one night)I like to call this one 'googly-bear'. For instance, "around this time I was getting an epideral." or "during this exact minute she was born." and just sappy stuff like that but I just couldn't fathom that a year has gone by already and just how much she had changed in that short time. Her first bath, trip to the mall, cold, halloween, thanksgiving, christmas... ha ok we'll just generalize holidays, sitting up, rolling over, crawling, waving, first word "Hi" but now she can also say "dada, mama, tickle tickle (kinda) and thank you (kinda again)", blowing kisses, giving kisses and hugs, and standing on her own. She even has learned to snap her fingers!
Of course her birthday had to be the hottest day of the week and reached 95 degree's. I spent a lot of the day working on her pain-in-the-butt cake which turned out alright but not how I invisioned it. We had a small family bar-b-que/ birthday party at my parents house with tons of good food and fun. Paige was endlessly entertained and entertaining and is so blessed to have so many people who absolutely love her! People like...

Her Grandpa Mecham( with grandpa pond in the background)... From mommy and daddy she got a few outfits, a block shape bucket, and her first 'purse' with everything to go inside. From other she got so many freaking cute outfits, diapers, books, a pool floaty, a pull-phone, a pop up box (ya know where it's 12345 and you pull the trigger and one pop ups), and a 'big girl' car seat. THANKS EVERYONE!

Next it was time for cake! So we stripped Paige down to her diaper but still had her wear a bib for extra measure. In the end of June Brock and I escaped for a day and went to SLC to see one of our favorites bands, 311, in concert! Brock had been anticipating this for months and was seriously like a kid in a candy store. My darling mother took Paige for the evening and even though we had to drive through some blinding rain storms to get there, we made it. I had been the Usana ampitheatre once before but I couldn't remember the way so we downloaded a map from google maps. NEVER EVER DO THAT! We were so terribly lost during rush hour on the high way in Salt Lake. We ended up taking a 45 minute detour when we spotted a car with an enormous 311 sticker on the back window. So we just decided to follow the car and assume they were going to the concert and what luck, it was! So thanks black jetta with the pink 311 sticker, we owe you! First thing we did was each buy some rockin T Shirts.

The Expendables followed by Ziggy Marley (Bob Marley's son) opened and it was awesome. You can't really see in the picture but his dreads are down to his knees! We had pit tickets and wriggled our way to the very front row. Once Ziggy started to play there was a wild group of like 40 year old guys that came crashing up front and spilling their beer everywhere. I gave one a mean look and a girl next to me said "oh sweetie that's just the beginning" at that moment I had the sneaky suspiscion that this concert was gonna be pretty crazy. They were yelling things like "Ziggy it's been too long!" and I was thinking, dude this is a 311 concert. Ziggy was only on stage for about a half hour, but cool none the less. Soon the rain started sheeting down and the pit began to fill with water but that didn't stop us! Finally 311 came on opening with "Never ending summer" look it up, it's awesome. They played a lot of songs from their new CD 'Uplifter' like Daisy Cutter (my personal fave) Jackpot, Hey you, and other favorites. Be jealous. When the first song began the crowd just surged and we were pinned against the rail and it just kept surging and people kept pushing like they were gonna any closer, which they didn't. So we eventually got fed up and gave up our FRONT ROW and moved towards the back of the pit which was still very close and a lot let crazy, besides for the occasional moshers, and it's not even that kind of music, oh well. We didn't get home until about two a.m. and our shoes were soaked with beer and water but it was all worth it, even though Brock had school the next morning at 7.

Nick Hexum & yes we were this close

P nuts bass that lit up & after the concert, yay for gross shoes

a gammat of recent things

So much has happened since memorial day and I have to blog about it all. So this is just a mumbo jumbo of things that have happened lately! Memorial day we went camping but not before I made the desicion to give Paige a 'quick' cut before we left. Her hair was so long and down in her face it was driving me crazy as well as her i'm sure. She looked all emo minus the black hair haha. Well the hair cut took just about forever because I was trying to even the top out but I finally gave up because she just wouldn't hold still even with Brock trying to hold her still. It didn't turn out bad but not good so either. Yay for Paige's first hair cut!

Paige also had her first 'big girl' bath which was long over due. This is also a post hair cut picture. I couldn't resist posting a classic 'toosh' picture. She loved splashing around but couldn't really understand why she couldn't stand up or roll over when I layed her down, even though she did get a face full of water. She actually threw a mini tantrum when it was time for her to get out because she enjoyed it so much. I can't believe she is ten months old already!! Oh and she's a genius. That's right. A Genius. I know all parents think their children are just the best thing since sliced bread but Paige can SNAP! She makes the noise and everything! We're trying to get it on video so keep an eye out.

About a month ago my loving husband brought me home a delicious cocoa bean cup cake, 'better than whatever' of course :) anyways that same day while I was cooking dinner I filled a pot with water and turned on the burner to boil it when I started to smell something funny. I turned to find one of our oven mits smoking like crazy and realized I had turned on the wrong burner. All I could do was say "uh..um...uh..um...babe...uh..um" I know what your thinking...why didn't you just grab the dang thing or get baking soda or SOMETHING. That's a good question. I always thought that if I were to be in one of those situations I would react and it would be no big deal but nope... so kindly note never to call me in case of an emergency lol. Well back to the story, Brock finally game into the kitchen, calmly grabbed the smoldering/smoking oven mit and tossed it into the sink running cold water over it. During which time I had suggested just to throw it into the garbbage, I know I know. The oven mit was mad of some heavy duty yarn so it smelt like burnt hair in our house for DAYS and left a nice pile of ash and burnt on yarn on the stove top. At the end of the day it was nice to enjoy that cupcake.

Ah so this is summer

Awe so this is summer... I vaguely remembered what walking outside without a jacket on and in shorts felt like. OH but now I remember! We couldn't be more happy that summer has shown it's cheery lil face. We have been taking advantage of all the nice weather starting with Brock's BYU-I intermural baseball games.

Brock gets to play with his two older brothers, one of which is the teams coach. They have already played and won three games. Their team is ridiculously good and are prone to hitting em out of the park. GO VIKINGS! Every game I tell Brock to hit a homer for me, but i'm stilling waiting :) No pressure babe!

Paige is also enjoying the finer things that summer has to offer. Like her first popsicle that Uncle Gregg was nice enough to share with her. She loved it! She latched on and seriously sucked until it was gone. She didn't even show signs of brain freeze or gum freeze for that matter!

I love that the beginning of summer also brings relatives! Paige enjoys having new people to play with and gush over her. Mommy loves how hard she crashes after a good play :) The picture on the left is my Aunt Wendy from Lindon, Utah and on the right is my dad from... here.

Gizmo has found ways to enjoy the summer too. He loves to dig and a digging puppy means a dirty puppy and a dirty puppy means it's bath time! This is how small the poor guy really is! Summer has also brought new life to Brocks parents. A surprising litter of kittens! Originally five was born but one was born with it's insides...out. Ya, it was gross and sad and I cried when I saw the poor thing slowly dying. On the bright side look how cute the remaining four are! I've taken the liberty of naming them. The two black ones are ben and jerry even though we're not sure if their boys. Ha the orange one is Pancakes, you would have to watch the OC to understand, and the grey one is Maverick, because he is such a dare devil and wanders away from his mom blind, and the one that died was Goose, fitting ya?

Hope everyone has a warm and sunny memorial day weekend!

la la la love

A little over a week ago my good friend Jaymie got married and like they do at most luncheon/dinner things people went around and gave the happy couple advice and it made me think of all the advice Brock and I were given and how much I had forgotten until then. (only two months had passed)
So I figured if it has only been two months for us and we have forgotten i'm sure others have too so I'm making a post of all the marriage advice that I have heard for all of your benefits and mine.
First, your spouse is your absolute best friend. Ya you have friends but your spouse is utterly your best friend, treat em that way!(I think we're still adjusting to always having someone else there. And I'm just adjusting to the the plain ole fact that i live with a boy and share a bed with a boy and share the bathroom with a boy!) This next piece of advice brought tears to my eyes when I heard it from dear great uncle Steve. He advised us to raise our family in the church. He has seen the heart ache that comes from not doing this so it meant so much when he teared up and advised us something so close to his heart. Third, pray together.( we actually do this and it's nice. I like knowing what is on Brock's mind when it is his turn to pray and it helps me help him if that makes sense) Fourth, it's okay to take some time for yourself.(still working on that) Fifth, give give give give give and give. Sixth, savor the small things. Last, never go to bed angry. Even if you have to stay up til two in the morning. Just don't. (MMM i like my sleep) These next pieces of advice I heard at Jaymie's luncheon. Fight naked! Because whatever youre fighting about doesn't seem as important anymore. Lol! I loved this one. The next was never expect things from your spouse only appreciate what they do do for you. LOVE IT!
Brock and I definately don't have a glamorous marriage where everything goes swimmingly and we are always on the same page. We definately don't practice even half the things above. But it's nice to have hope that MAYBE one day we can find some advice of our own to share. I would so love for everyone to share some different advice that they have been given or heard and I will add it to this post!

improvements

Finally the weather has improved in good ole I.F. so Brock and I decided to take Paige on her first trip to the river. She was so fascinated with everything going on around her. She soaked it all in and loved it. She took about a two hour nap afterward. Needless to say we plan to visit a lot more often!

Paige looking at the falls Gizmo hiding next to Brock from the geese
I don't blame him, those geese are mean!

Lemon chicken salad
Chicken, rice, & green bean dish
* our new favorite meal
I have also made the executive decision to improve our eating habits. Which used to consist of Wendy's, Scotty's, frozen pizza's, frozen chicken strips, nacho's, and cereal. Ha so you can see why we needed a change.
It's not like we didn't have the stuff in the house for an appropriate meal, I have always intended on cooking but just never did. So we're off to good start. So far I have made french toast and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. What you see above and a few casseroles, not bad ya? Also Gizmo is almost potty trained so maybe I will decide he can stay after all...maybe. Last but not least Paige finally slept through the night last night. For the first time. All night. I don't think you understand the gravity of this improvement... I have waited NINE MONTHS for a full nights sleep! Oh yes, and Brock would like to add that this new semester of school (today was his first day back) he plans on improving his grades and is aiming for straights A's. Wish him luck!

oh gosh...

So a lot has happened in our little family unit over just the past two weeks. Brock and I have only been in our new ward a month and have already been called as primary teachers for the 4&5 year olds. Our first lesson is Easter sunday so that should be a good way to get things warmed up (we hope)... Paige has now become a crawling machine and I can hardly keep up with her!

she loves to find new things to pull herself up on like the sofa, the banana chair, the tv stand, the dishwasher, the bath tub, the toilet (I can't keep her out of the bathroom and she's only eight months!) or any box she can find. She is growing like a weed but at her last doctors visit he told us she was in the first percentile for her weight!! He called that 'failure to thrive', psh... the way she's on the go it's no wonder she isn't gaining weight! Believe us, she's thriving!

About a week ago she got really really sick with the flu and of course of all the nights it was the first night that she stayed with my mom, go figure. My mom said she had hardly slept and was really whiny but I just couldn't see it when I picked her up the next morning. I soon found that she wouldn't even leave my lap and just as we got her in the car she threw up...everywhere! She continued to throw up through the night but the next day she improved so we made the mistake of feeding her banana's...ya big mistake. So after a few not helpful phone calls to the pediatric center we took her to community care on Friday. The doctor took one look at her and was like "oh man, she's got it bad." So he recommended pedialyte. It wasn't even in her stomach for two minutes and it came back up. So of course at this point we became super worried so we called the nice doctor and he recommended just giving it to her through a medicine dropper an ounce at a time and it worked! But the next day he advised us to take her to the ER so she could have a blood count for dehydration. Luckily they put a cathider in her instead which is still awful and she screamed bloody murder. By Monday she was as good as new, the poor girl, and poor parents!!

So the other day we had a bit of an impulse buy...a dog. Honestly I don't know what we were thinking, it's like having two babies! The next day I wanted to give him back but Brock was already too attached so to my dismay he's here to stay (that rhymed). His name is Gizmo because he looks so much like a gremlin and he's a shorkie (shih tzu/ yorkie). Don't get me wrong he's really cute and cuddly n all but I just don't have the time or energy to watch him like a hawk. Not only that but he thinks his toys are Paige's and she thinks his are hers...and it's just no good. So pray for me and that I will be a good wife and not give this dog the boot!!!

I pronounce you...an eternal family!!!

Ok so now that I have a faster computer to blog on you can count on me blogging A LOT more!!! I will start with an update beginning with the biggest recent event...being married! Brock and I always talk about how crazy it is that we finally made it to that day. We had an amazing (a little lengthly) but amazing sealer who gave us some really great advice (if only i could remember half of it) and after being married that highlight of our visit to the temple is when they brought in Paige all dressed in white and put her hand on ours. Unfortunately Paige became really sick about two days before the wedding with her first cold ever...of all the weeks right?! So that made the day all the more stressful and long but still fabulous! The entire day went so smoothly, I was just waiting for some terrible mishap but it never came. I'm so pround to say that I have a 'husband' and that i'm a 'wife' even though the sound of 'Randi Pond' is still a little weird. In church they were like "sister pond..." and I just sat there for a few seconds and then it hit me, "Randi, that's you dummy."
Here are some wedding pictures...

these are just a few of our favorites... I wish I could live in my dress!

Now we have been married just short a few days of a month and we have already discovered that marriage is work and the hardest thing we will ever do but we still couldn't be happier. We are so happy to have a house of our own and to finally be doing our own thing as our own family unit. We are SO grateful for all the support we have recieved, thank you!!!
Well recently Brock has been oh so very busy with school and as he says "it's kickin my butt." and he just changed his major from computer science to mechanical engineer which I am thrilled he decided to do because he was so unhappy with his major class. That, and he changed it just after one semester and not after a few years. As for me I'm just being a mommy and home-maker and cleaning houses for some income. We love you all, keep in touch and that's a wrap!

Christmas!!

Sooo i'm gonna start out with a picture so no one freaks about the lack of... (alex) This is Paige and I all warm and toasty on Chrismas eve right before we left for West Yellowstone to the cabin. You can't tell but I was pissed that I was rushed to be ready and packed by 11 a.m. when we everyone didn't up leaving til two!! So for now on i'm gonna plan on everything happening three hours later with that family!

So we finally got up to the cabin around five to find nothing but drifting snow. A lot of drfiting snow. So we snowmobile in a half mile to the cabin and I was freaking out the whole time cuz Paige was in my coat all bundled up and it was so very windy and bumpy and overall yucky.

We walk into the cabin where it isn't much warmer. Only 40 degree's to be exact. The only warm place was a downstairs bathroom so Paige and I hibernated in there for about an hour while everyone else got all situated and started up the fire place. By the time everyone was situated it was practically a white out outside but the Pond's were determined to have a christmas tree! So all the guys braved the cold and found us a good one! Unfortunately I didn't think to take a picture of it. That night we had steak and shrimp, read a christmas story, and I listened to them exchange stories about their late sister, Meagan, who Paige is named after. They said that the cabin is the one place they feel her the most.

Her outfit says "Baby's First Christmas' It was pretty cute with her penguin slippers :)

Grandma and Grandpa Pond gave her that bear along with some cute outfits.
My mom bought her this jumper that she absolutely loves! She mostly just spins around in it rather than bounces in it. As long as she is entertained it doesn't matter to me. Brock and I bought Paige an Elmo and a keyboard that she can kick inside her crib that lights up and plays music.

Christmas day there was no going outside. It dumped 32 inches of snow in just one day!! So we spent the day eating and playing games and doing puzzles. It was nice to just be cozy inside while the snow came whizzing down. The next day the sun was out and we snowmobiled. There was so much powder it was unbelieveable. The snow was up to my waist. The Pond's said that was unusual for christmas and normally there is that much snow by the end of January. It was so weird not being home for christmas so it didn't really feel like it was christmas at all. We came home saturday on some very icy roads and I was SOOO glad to be home. Not gonna lie we were all getting a small case of cabin fever.

Santa Claus is coming to town...

First off, I would just like to say "br!". FINALLY it snowed just in time for Christmas. I was beginning to think it would be a brown Christmas, but with a baby to bundle up i'm glad the snow took it's time. We have sort of have become home bodies now since mommy (me) doesn't like braving the cold weather with little Paige. She has yet to be super sick and I intend to keep it that way!
Well Paige is a rolling over machine these days and always has two fingers in her mouth. I think she has a future as a pilates instructor becuase she is constantly doing v sit-ups. She now weighs 12 pounds and will be 5 months on the 23rd. She loves to talk my ear off and stand but i'm always happy to listen. As for me I now fit back into my regular jeans. WOOHOO! I have to brag because I NEVER thought the day would come :)
We're both very excited (as excited as she can be) to be spending Christmas with the Pond family in Island Park this year. I have to admit i'm a little leary of the trip. They tell me that usually their cabin is snowed in and they have to snowmobile for about a half mile to even get there. So not only do we have to snowmobile in BUT I have 101 things to pack for Paige and myself to haul in. It will be interesting. Also on Christmas Eve they go out and chop down a tree and then decorate it with popcorn. Anyone who knows me knows that this is sure to be eventful. First, I have never riden a snowmobile in my life. Second, I'm not so graceful. Third, I tend to complain, especially when it's cold. So I will definately let you know how it folds out. All in all i'm stoked that both Brock and I can be with Paige on her first Christmas. I will absolutely take a MILLION pictures and post them all!
I'm also so stoked to have a Wii!! Brock gave it to me for an early Christmas present and I'm an addict already! I'm a pro at bowling so i'm up for challengers :)

Thanksgiving

This last week was Thanksgiving, duh, and true to the holiday season it was wonderful. Paige and I woke up in time to watch the parade on tv and eat a pop tart ( to save room for the big meal of course) and as corny as this sounds I began to think of all I was thankful. Paige, support from my family and friends, the gospel, mercy, a home..ect. short story shorter IM SO BLESSED!

So after the parade I dressed Paige in her turkey outfit that said baby's 1st thanksgiving and we headed off for the first of our many stops. We went to my grandma and grandpa Mecham's place where all of my cousins from that side were. It was pretty neat cuz that is probably the last time we will ALL be together for a while cuz so many of them are engaged and going on missions. So after stuffing myself and watching Paige be passed around endlessly we headed to our next few stops. Pretty much it was everyone wanting to see Paige. I often tell people that she's the star and i'm just her driver ( and diaper changer) I love how no matter who is holding her the minute she stinks they are suddenly ready to give her back. So I guess I know that I will EVENTUALLY get her back cuz i know she has poo sometime... ha, good to know. We ended up at the Pond's house where she had finally had it with being passed around and wouldn't really go to anyone but me. The night ended late and Paige slept like a rock ( I love it when that happens). What I love even more is now we have leftovers for turkey sandwiches! Happy Holidays!

HELP!

Help! i'm blog retarded...so if you see this and know me...add me er whatever it is that you do. I mean she is three months old now. But now it's done so no worries I guess. Her Grandpa Pond blessed her and it was SO sweet. I cried, of course. It is just so weird to think that this was her blessing and next is her baptism. AH! i'll be OLD! lol ok maybe that's a little far out there but it seems that way.
After her blessing all her loved ones came over to my parents place and we had a small brunch. It was soo soo nice to have everyone get along. Brock's family and my family were so interactive and accepting. I loved every minute of it and we all really enjoyed ourselves. It just confirmed to me that I made the right descion in keeping her and that there are so many people that love her. I'm excited to know that this can work.
